@vcp430 running the mic through a device called a Phaser. Much more popular with Rock guitarists then Banjoists...but pete pulls it off!

These guys were the COOLEST. I lived in CO and actually heard 'em at the Niwot Grange Hall! Pete's playing thru some kind of flanger -- "New York Rhythm" It's really great to see Tim and Nick so YOUNG -- where does the time go?

How did Pete make his banjo sound like that?

Pete RULES!

I agree with the comment below regarding Tim O'Brien. When he's interviewed, like at a song writer's workshop, you see how much he understands this music and cares about it. You may know he's hardly a "country" type of guy, and he's not like a lot of professional musicians. He's bombarded with praise by fans, and yet, he seems totally unaffected by it.

Awesome!

@heavy7 - heavy I understand what you mean by your comment but please also understand that Charles style was by choice only, if you were ever around charles you understood that he was a very talented player who could span many styles but with Hot Rize taking on that Retro-Grass feel he chose to take breaks in the old Clarence Green style of flat-picking. At a time when every one was "Rice-ing" their licks, Charles was taking a different direction on purpose.

I respect Sawtell's ability and style but I can understand why some people do not like what he plays. It is just a matter of personal preference.

is that Jerry Douglas with a mullett??
