Hello,

In this video, we will be making some Sodium Nitrate and Silver Chloride at once.
We might use these chemicals in an upcomming video.

I do not claim that it is cheaper to make the chemicals instead of making them.
This is an expensive way to make Sodium Nitrate, but you have to do this method to get Silver Chloride.

Make a solution of about 2 spoons of silver nitrate in 50mLof water.
do the same with the Sodium Chloride.

Add both solutions, to get a nice white cloudy solution.

Filter of the solution to get the Sodium Nitrate and Silver Chloride.

Just evaporate off the water to get pure cristals of Sodium Nitrate

  • Interesting. Love the narration.

  • Ohhh, thank you so much!!! This is exactly what I was looking for!!!! Thank you a million (:

  • @EasyChemistry nope. Actually HCl and NaNO3 react to form nitric acid and sodium chloride.

  • I make it with HNO3 and NaOH

  • If you have access to silver nitrate, why would you need to make sodium nitrate? And silver nitrate isn't exactly dirt cheap.

  • @SwirlyNut me too!

  • i was so surprised to hear the intro!

  • cool you get 2 useful chemicals in one experiment :3

  • Can i make a sodium nitrate with HNO3 and NaCl

    NaCl + HNO3 ---> NaNO3 + HCL

  • Seeing as you used NaCl with impurities and you didn't tell us the quality of your AgNO3, this is achieved really difficultly. This would mean that you can have either some AgNO3 left in solution or some NaCl in excess in the solution. I would rather recommend just to stick with the precipitate synthesis, because under your possibilities, you cannot do a good synthesis of NaNO3.
