Black 47 frontman Larry Kirwan leads us into the wilds of the Bronx, as he describes the beginnings of the band. At the same time, he brings to vivid life the geographical and philosophical inspirations -- not to mention the human ones! -- for his latest novel, ROCKIN' THE BRONX.

@kathy07002 I grew up in the Irish section of the Bronx and now live in Bayonne... and i'm sorry to say but there is no comparison... every bar you went into in the Bronx was packed to the doors and rockin with music... Bayonne has 1 or 2 places that might remind me of the bronx but never on a saturday night... I miss the good old days on Bainbridge Ave...

I love when you mentioned that the Irish section of the Bronx is like Bayonne on a Saturday night! So true! Thanks!

Sunnyside/Woodside is a great neighborhood for Irish bars and music as well.

I'm more than halfway through the book now and am enjoying it immensely which is one reason why I searched for this video. Someone's got to make a movie!
