The district has been Republican for over a century and Owens would have probably lost to the Republican challenger(I can't spell her name off the top of my head). Hoffman and his Conservative backers screwed it up for the Republicans. There is no other way to spin it. Palin and Thompson and the rest cost the GOP a seat.

A convicted felon two days out of jail could have defeated Corzine in New Jersey, he is that unpopular there. As for Virginia, my hat is off to McDonnell, he ran an exceptional campaign and stayed true to his word to avoid the campaign strategies of Karl Rove. He ran a positive campaign promoting what he would do for Virginia. That is what all politicians should strive for.

You do realize that the czars are a creation of a Republican President, don't you? They date back to Nixon and have been a part of every presidency since. W. had more people serve as czars than Obama and most of the czar positions in the Obama administration are carryovers from W's White House. Also, if you were any sort of student of political history, you would realize that the Republican victories in the 2 gubernatorial races are a forecast of ...nothing.
