I honestly think the world will never know another artist more passionate or honest.
Say what you will about Daniel Johnson. He will forever exist in my mind.

I know that this is really fucking backwards, but Trollin Withdrawal made me like Daniel Johnston and this documentary made me love Daniel Johnston. This is a great documentary about an amazing dude. I wish I could have discovered him way before I did, but I'm glad I eventually found my way around.

I can't understand people saying there's no catchy songs here and the voice is bad. Silly love is musically/lyrically such a great song. None of the covers of his songs on Youtube come close to the originals, not even Beck or Wilco. Something deep and haunting going on with DJ that really grabs me, anyway.

I met daniel johnston in manchester last thursday. I came over to him and said 'You know, your song Going Down is one of my favourite songs I've ever heard'. He was sitting down, and shaking. He sort of didn't respond at first, then looked up, and said 'Hey yeah, I remember that one,' and reached out his hand to shake mine. Such a nice guy.
