Van Williams .. the man who was in many seires, "Bourbon Street Beat" .. "Surfside 6" and, and, and .. then "The Green Hornet" .. Can you find the GE Theater episode he did with Robert Fuller? .. I have put photos in 'some kind of order' . not necessarily right order . though .. I think the last few were/are in order .. Sitting on the floor in my home fixing my laptop, he was a reserve deputy sheriff for many years, always there to help and help he did, he hurt himself a few times, 'not a problem' THEN . but as we age, those things come to the fore and can & do bother us . but he is still loving travelling, especially Safaris .. how many? .. I do not remember . but he and his wonderful wife love them ..
Don't forget about Van's uncredited kinda nude, shower scene in "Tall Story" .. he is behind Tony Perkins, & you know .. has a towel on .. but . hey .. I may have to get that DVD .. do not remember seeing it ..

Interesting fact, I used to have all or most of the bubble gum cards, and one or two were Van's stunt double, Bennie Dobbins .. thought that was pretty funny .. Bennie did not like to do lines or be photographed.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it.

I'm a martial arts teacher, and I'm always telling my kids about Bruce Lee and the series. Van's character--playing it straight instead of campy like Batman--was a good move. He was perfect for the role. Van was a good actor. I've watched the shows and am impressed by both of them.

Tell him he's got a big fan in Indiana who will build his legend amongst a bunch of six to twelve year olds! I wish they'd offer the series on DVD!!!!

  • @hardheadjarhead :) they do sell it on DVD .. NOT great but take a look at Amazon ..

Bruce called Kung Fu the Gung Fu . he taught C. Norris and many others here .. had a hard time finding work because of his accent . but what a wonderful/fun person he was .. He and Van were very close .. actually, all the cast/crew on the show were friends . some better than others .. Glad he has fan(s) in Indiana .. I think that the 12 year olds will either love the show or think it is corny:) special FX now!

  • @hardheadjarhead Van was last to be cast . he had done another pilot, true story about a Submarine . had that sold . we never would have met .. Van is one of the nicest men I have ever met, a good friend .. I used to help at autograph shows . here and in San Diego .. along with Wende Wagner .. Yes, camp would have been wrong and have NO intention of seeing 'the movie' .. Watching the marathon brought back so many wonderful memories for me :)

  • I loved him and Bruce Lee in Green Hornet. My parents wouldn't let me stay up and watch the show when I was a kid....

I'd love to meet him at some comic book convention or something and get his autograph.

  • @hardheadjarhead I hope you watched the marathon on SyFy .. I have watched twice now .. brings back a lot of fond memories .. Van does not do autograph shows anymore .. nor does he live in the state of California .. He is well and we do keep in touch .. Bruce was a good friend back then .. I met his baby Brandon .. later did a pilot with Brandon "Kung Fu, the Legend Continues" .. had his Dad's eyes .. lovely young man .. I shall pass your comments on to Van.

  • Excellent actor! I wish ABC would have given Green Hornet, more of a chance. I still remember watching him as a little kid in Surfside 6.

  • @evpsareallaroundus Yes, but back then it was the advertising agencies and not the networks who said 'go on or cancel' .. because of "Batman" being so popular and :"The Green Hornet" was not to be CAMP .. per exec. producer of both series .. no one knew about Kung Fu/Bruce Lee .. was hard for me to get the VIP visitors to go on the set . they all wanted to see "Batman" only .. that you had to have a pass for . 1 hour ONLY .. It went on too soon .. I think .. had they left it on . ??
