See low light comparison here:

and 120fps slowmo here:

Here's a side by side video showing the 1080p mode, 127 º on the new HD HERO 2 and the original HD HERO. Note there is slightly more noise on the original HERO. I have also done a side by side showing the increased field of view you get with the new 170º 1080p mode.

  • From what I see in the video:

    HDHero-Bright light situations

    HDHero2-Dark light

This is based on the chairs to the right and the trees on the left.

Going to be hard to decide which 1 I'm going to get, espec since the 170* doesn't do much for me...

  • @boardrfolif3 save the cash and go for the 1 then. I think the big difference is the 170º + variable angles. If thats no use to you, you might as well use the extra cash for an lcd back ? :-)

  • Do you have the 3d housing kit? if so is it possible to use your hero HD 2 in the housing with a hero HD to record 3d video?

  • @CaspersCuts I don't. I thought about getting it, but already have a 3d camera. the position of lenses, and field of view (provided you set the HD2 to 127) are identical. cases are also identical so should work fine.

  • the 170 degree's on the hero 2 looks awsome! does it fit with the 120fps mod?

  • @jeroennnnnnnnnnnnnn yeh 120fps is 170 fov

  • @mishadeth Not to me O.o

  • @ffishy100 Comparing boxes? Wow, wanna teach the rest of us how to make such wise judgements based on the products' boxes?

  • @ffishy100 Chill, kid - nobody accused you of anything... btw. if I wanted/needed, I could go right now and buy one (and I see you have the naked version, what does that tell you?), so perhaps you should think before making stupid posts here.

  • @mishadeth 12 people do not know how a camera works sorry but HDhero2 is better than 1 your prob saying that to make you feel better about you purchasing the 1st one

  • @mishadeth Not at all not the slightest you must not have it go read the details im compairing boxes right now get your facts straight

  • render alert

  • half the comparrisons on youtube comparing different cameras are Render Fails OK

  • @joeyz55 Thank you Yes the HD hero 2 is worth the extra money HANDS DOWNS the people who argue otherwise prob only have the 1st one and are jelouse...

  • @powerlord69Get the Hero 2 the list of fetures goes on and on and on and on ....

  • @kniefi not at all. What you're noticing is increased digital sharpening due to the slower glass. Notice how the blue skies on the Hero 2 videos are not all blown-out. I am actually quite amazed at how well the Hero 2 balances out the shadows,mid-tones, and hilights, providing for much better color grading. Some of the footage I see online looks like it was shot with a much more expensive camera.
