More than sixty years of turmoil... and still there is little to suggest that the situation between Israel and Palestine is likely to improve. To the contrary... indications are that things may soon get a heck of a lot worse... and there is no telling how many innocent lives will be lost in the process !
I don't claim to have all the answers, as far as resolving the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict is concerned. What I do know though, is that unless the wrongs of the past are acknowledged and atoned... the likelihood of a peaceful coexistence between the Israeli and Palestinian Peoples will be nothing more than a pipedream !
The International Community... through the Balfour Declaration, and the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine... are responsible for the creation of the Conflict which exists today... and as an International Community, we need to be united in working toward a peaceful resolution... which ensures that all who suffered as a result of past actions, are compensated for their loss !!!
Children are the hope of the future... and through proper education, and encouraging them to practice tolerance and respect toward others... they may be able to experience 'a peace' that we of the older generation have thrown aside, through nothing but our own ignorance and stupidity !
The more than 60 years of bloodshed between the Israeli and Palestinian Peoples must come to an end, in order for there to be a peaceful coexistence between them. That means no more targeting of Israel by Hamas (and other Islamic Extremist Groups). The firing of Missiles (Rockets) and the use of Suicide Bombers is not the way to encourage a peaceful relationship with your neighbours ! The targeting and killing of innocent people is a crime against peace and humanity, and should be frowned upon by the International Community !!!
Once the threat to Israeli Civilians has been removed... so too, the discrimination against the Palestinian People must cease. That means ending the stranglehold over the Gaza Strip and West Bank... removing Settlements from Occupied Territories (and ending the Occupation), and helping to build new homes that enable the Palestinians to live a dignified existence... ending the bulldozing of Palestinian Homes, and the destruction of Palestinian Orchards... and tearing down the Barrier to Peace (The Wall) separating the Israeli and Palestinian People.
What I have suggested, isn't going to happen overnight... it is a step-by-step process that first requires each of the parties to acknowledge their share of responsibility for past atrocities, and to firmly commit to the peaceful resolution of any future disputes which may threaten the coexistence of both parties.
'Peaceful coexistence' requires tolerance and respect toward each other as individual human beings. That means setting aside any differences we may have; and respecting each other's right to be who and what we are. Irrespective of what our individual beliefs may be... we do not have a right to force other people to share those beliefs. Our individuality was given to us by God... and as such, it should be respected !
As human beings who wish to have 'our rights' respected... we need to ensure that the rights of others are also respected. That means working together (peacefully) toward ending any anomalies which prevent people from being able to live a dignified existence. If our individual greed or selfishness is contributing toward the suffering of others... we need to change our lives accordingly, so that 'our existence' doesn't threaten the existence of others. Whilst we may need to make some individual sacrifices... they are nothing in comparison to 'the sacrifices' we are forcing upon others !!!
As human beings, we also have a responsibility to look after this planet on which we live... and that means making a firm commitment toward the removal of any threats to its continued existence. The number of Nuclear Weapons throughout the world, represent a very real threat to the planet's future... and to the future of our children.
No country should be forced to live under the threat of being annihilated by Nuclear Weapons, and as such, we need to be working together toward the dismantling of all Nuclear Weapons (not only in Israel, but other countries as well)... and to ensure an end to the production of all lethal weapons (whether they be nuclear, chemical or biological). World governments need to be working together to ensure that all necessary safeguards against the production of such weapons are put in place.
To anyone who may suggest that I am dreaming... may I suggest to you in return, that it is a dream you perhaps need to share... because the alternative options have disastrous consequences for all mankind !

Unfortunately, the conflict between Palestine and Israel war will continue until the over all settlements is reached and I dont think this will happen any time soon, at least not the life time you and I have.
Sadly, children from both sides who are caught up in an adults world of hatred.
