i think that this song is telling us to never take life for granted and to live life to the fullest.live your dreams and fulfill them,that's what i did.i thought that my life was over when i lost my ex-wife to an affair but i survived and i'm living it to the fullest.achieve your dreams ,let nothing stop you.....not even death.

This has always been, not only one of my favorite Joe Williams recordings, but favorite of all time. It's amazing that he was actually well into his 70's at the time of this recording.

mary is so amateur but i do agree about Shirley Horne. Cleo Laine sang this live in LA this summer at 80 something and made everyone cry!
