  • As an infidel, I'm more concerned with the "other things he said and" wrote. Arguing isn't a real Christian and thus likely a liar goes nowhere with me or any one else who doesn't share your faith.

  • Well, if the point of a believing in Jesus Christ was to "go anywhere" infidels saw fit, there'd be no believers!

  • I'm neither a Roman Catholic nor an evangelical Protestant, though I've investigated what both have to say and can attest that evangelical Protestantism is no more or less "objective" in its claims to truth as Roman Catholicism.

The point: whatever the Bible says about ITS claim of truth has absolutely nothing to do with whether a non-believer is capable of telling TRUTH. If you automatically view non-evangelical Protestants as incapable of telling truth you are a bigot plain and simple.

  • It's certainly a good start. Of course Paul in his day said of one of the Grecians that they bore a true witness of the slow and lazy sluggards of their area, but my point is that Schaeffer isn't exactly a trustworthy witness according to other things he has said and written. Apostasy isn't the mark of an faithful man. It's the mark of an infidel.

  • He was making documentaries with his Dad and also making distasteful films not long after way back in the early 80's. I actually applaud some of the stands he took early on, but this stunt he's pulling with his parents is just a fruit of a process that started long ago. If someone has to lie about facts, (which he's been known to do) it's a mark of cowardice, not courage.

  • From what I saw in this, The Television seems like playing a Tennis match, they know how to hit the ball, they can either put a down spin or even a top spin to score points easier. When we return it however, do we always score a point or does our ball always hit the net and returns back to us? Do we even return the ball back or do we always keep getting scored at~?

  • Thank you for all the great videos you have posted.

  • Yes, it reminds me of the book "Amusing Ourselves to Death : Public Discourse in The Age of Show Business" by Neil Postman. Even though it came out in 1985 it is still very relevant today 24 years later. An excellent read!

  • I was laughing because of the deadpan way Schaeffer demonstrated how the media can put a spin on things (such as the typical newsweek/onfaith article). But really it's more depressing than funny.

  • I need to clarify a few points:

*Frank Schaeffer's novels are not supposed to actually about his parents. They are an amalgem of various experiences w/ the Evangelicals. The characters are only partially based on his parents. & the 1st novel is a gem.

*LaneCh, Mother Church does NOT put Tradition over scripture, rather the reverse. Your comment might have been from ignorance, but if you now repeat it you are a liar.

*Yes, Catholicism is objective Truth, there is none other.

  • I'm not really sure what you guys are talking about here but if you apply what Schaeffer says to the happenings on 9/11, you can see the media manipulated an entire country and the world. They even used evangelicals and fundamentalists to do the work. Iraq had nothing to do with it, nor did Afghanistan, but the Saudis? The Saudis and the administration were buddies, but maybe we ought to be looking in our own backyard.

  • What Francis Schaeffer's son has been saying online in blogs makes me furious. To alledge that his father believed in actual uprisings and so forth is a horrible slander. Dr Francis Schaeffer has a book, The Mark of the Christian that pretty well clears up all the blatant LIES and misquotes his "son" has written against him.

Dr Francis Schaeffer was gentle, loving, and had true Christian compassion. It is a great loss for all of us that he is no longer here.

  • they can sincerely believe it, but they are still speaking lies.
