Repairing a Scoraig windmill where the bearings failed and the stator got trashed. Alan Bush winds new coils. We also replaced the magnets but I don't show that. It's more of an exercise in editing than a deliberate instructional video. My winch needed oiling! And better light would have helped too. But it does show how to tape up a coil.

  • To make the coil winder easier to use, might I suggest a magnet that acts on the handle?

I did this with mine. The magnet triggers the counter on each turn, and also locks the handle when it is released.

This holds everything still and allows both hands to be used when manipulating the finished coil.

  • Thanks.
