JOHAN23: 'Optimizer' and 'Body Planner' belong to Zizi&Yoyo talk/installation series, dedicated to our beloved employee Johan Tali's 23rd birthday. The history of recent architectural utopias dating between 1989...2004 are projected into the future and reflected back to the present. Handling several talks in parallel at the same time within the same confined space sets the lecturers in dialogue and trilogue. Titled accordingly 'Optimizer', 'Body Planner' and 'Johan23', the events synthesize concepts of the role of an architect under current economic crisis: architect as optimizer? What is the marrow of architecture without which it ceases to exist? Urban visions recycling? Laissez-faire innovation in architecture? Do-nothing inventory? If one takes all terminology and style out, what is the 'something real' at stake? What is efficient? urbanism without architecture/construction? What if the increasing complexity is best served by simple models? Installation spatial setting is designed to augment the fluid effect of the global architectural discourse and to empower the impact of the talks.
