They survived hell, and lived to tell it's story. But a group of Holocaust survivors profiled at Yad V'Shem chose to tell a different story. A story of hope and optism. The museum followed 90 survivors who made contributions to Israeli society. They range from filmaker Ephraim Kishon to Israeli swimwear magnet Leah Gottlieb to abstract artists Moshe Kupferman. They accomplishments in the newly formed Jewish State helped shape Israeli culture. 5/1/2008

@nazimick If it did not happen then why is it against the law in Germany to deny the Holocaust? Holocaust denial is illegal in a number of European countries. Many countries also have broader laws that criminalize genocide denial. In addition, the European Union has issued a directive to combat racism & xenophobia, which makes provision for member states criminalising Holocaust denial, w/ maximum prison sentence of between one and three years.

Today, there are only 84 genuine Holocaust survivors still living. Unfortunately, many Jews claim to be survivors and invent stories about their "miraculous" escapes from death camps. Everytime they show up, they get media attention and are invited to tell their stories to school children, civic groups, etc., which they proceed to do until they're found out.

It's a disgrace and an insult to the real survivors.
