My Search for the Best High Definition Camcorder

http://webvideography.com I shoot with broadcast quality equipment, but none of my camcorders are high definition. Most of my video work is for the Web and at this stage in our technology, the difference between HD and SD are not overly dramatic online. But things are rapidly changing and clients in my SEO/ Web Video business (http://webvideoprofessional.com) are beginning to request High def, so I need to find the right camera. I'm looking for a prosumer HD camcorder at an affordable price.

I narrowed the search down in subsequent videos. While I'm still investigating options I've learned that Cannon is my best bet, more specifically the Canon VIXIA HF S10 (around $1300), or it's less expensive sister VIXIA HF S100 without internal flash memory ($1k). I explained the reasons and will elaborate further and make a personal review once I've made a decision and a purchase.

it does not come with any memory but it had an massive sd slot which can hold about 200 gigs... anyways this camera records in full 1080p and or 720p/60 fps and others

I'm in about the same boat as you. I believe you're right about the Canon models being easily the best in the $1,000 range. They're the only ones in that price range with a lens large enough to get a good shot without extreme lighting. I still think though, that a top-flight used SD cam with all the bells and whistles will outperform low-grade HD cams and will have things like XLR mic inputs and total manual control. A used DVX100 sells for around $1000 bucks now.

I've been looking for a replacement for my Canon XM2 (GM2) but I'm struggling. While most consumer cameras can produce very nice footage, the size is just too small, viewfinders seem rare and manual controls sparse. Also, I'd really miss that 20X Fluorite wide aperture lens. Ideally, a good used XH A1 as a replacement but expensive! Maybe I'll just get a cheap Xacti for now!
