John was one of the masters of this track. I think there are not many drivers who seemed to really suit the Nordschleife. Surtees, Fangio, Ickx, Stewart... All of them brilliant drivers.

The old Nurburgring was just the most astounding circuit ever!

I'm amazed they could even remember which corner was coming next there were so many. Must have been a devil of a circuit to learn.
