@curleyteeth Hi! Well, now recently having gotten more recordings of Adler from the 40s, and comparing them with my Diamond tracks, I have to agree (I never made a comparison, but simply liked both) that Adler was better. Recently I found a performance of Genevieve by Philip Achille here in YT. I find his work pleasing, too. Something makes me think that maybe he might have been a protege of Adler??? I am not sure.
But thanks for your reply!

@TuboEspectador I appreciate your comments on Leo Diamond but he was not in the same class as Larry Adler.

@TG280 There are not many people who can get beyond the novelty of the harmonica. Larry Adler is one, of course, who is a master. Also, Leo Diamond, whose work is hard to find. With the BBC Proms Orchestra, there is a Philip Achille, who is very good, and makes me think of both of them. Quite cool.

Just saw the film on a retro channel, and received the DVD. I am a fan of Larry Adler and Leo Diamond, harmonica players. I never knew of Genevieve, and it's a nice song and movie. I watched the interview with Adler about how he composed the theme. Quite interesting.

I am watching this film every night at the moment. The acting is terrific, especially Dinah Sheridan whose face reflects so accurately what she is thinking or feeling at the momment. Th relationship between the men is surprisingly nasty - but all through the film there is the sub-text of jealousy - from Claverhouse because he did not marry Wendy, and from McKim because Wendy and Claverhouse go a little too far in expressing their mutual affection.

One of my favourite soundtracks ever and I think the scratchiness adds charm to it.

Tommy Reilly was good but was there ever anyone better on the mouth organ than Larry Adler, brilliant and a truly great tune that fitted the film perfectly.
Lovely music and a wonderful classic English comedy. Also, a valuable document of England and London in the 1950's.

Wonderful and even though it's scratchy it doesn't matter because it's wonderful... and so is the film... Happy happy memories... :0)x
