Americans generally are not well taught in geography, liberal arts, history or the social sciences.
Thus it is that millions of them cannot distinguish the differences between Arab and Sikh.
This ignorance cost the life of an innocent man,Balbir Singh Sodhi in Mesa,Arizona on 15 September 2001.
This video clip is from from 26 September 2001
when President George Bush met with Sikhs to apologise and hear their concerns. The text is his remarks is below:
THE PRESIDENT: It's my honor to welcome citizens from all across our country here to the Roosevelt Room and the White House to discuss our common commitment to make sure that every American is treated with respect and dignity during this period of -- during any period, for that matter, of American history, particularly during this time. An American Sikh has been killed, unjustly so. These citizens bring their hearts with them, and I can assure them that our government will do everything we can to not only bring those people to justice, but also to treat every human life as dear, and to respect the values that made our country so different and so unique. We're all Americans, bound together by common ideals and common values. So I want to welcome you all here. I'm honored that you're here in the White House, and I look forward to a good, frank discussion. Thank you for coming.

  • @curatrix2008 you are an ignorant and racist fool. I hope someday you can see the kindness in others. You say "white US citizens" are good and the people of other nations are trash? Please do some research, read some world history, get an education, go to school and learn something about the world.

  • @Youkickmydog1988 Well all religions are spiritual dude, muslims didnt do anything, it was a certain group of people. We were attacked because of the way we looked, fact is many muslims dont wear turbans at all. It was only many years ago back in the day in the middle east. Reguardless, the crimes occured because of the ignorance of southasians and middle eastern people in general.

  • @tarantinoisahack Alrite I'm man enough to admit I can be wrong. There's been a lot of buzz about Sangat TV and it seems that Sikhs are dedicated to keeping order. They even worked in defence with the filthy Muslims.

Whilst I still think Sikhs can be rather blunt and materialistic, I cannot deny that they wish to uphold and keep the peace.

  • @Youkickmydog1988 ima sikh and i am not happy you are speading lies about sikhis. sikhs were not here to protect india agianst muslims. learn sikhi and its history. sikhs protect all helpless people and anyone who its treated unfairly . we stand agiant injustice. sikhs have faught battles agianst hindus aswell as muslims and have helped hindus aswell as muslims . sikhs never attacked a religion but only individuals for there actions. no innocent has been harmed by a sikh.

  • @pgill15 Well I don't really see Sikhs sticking their nec k out for Muslims or condeming attacks against them.

Then again the Muslims are the ones attacking and despising all non-Muslims.

  • @tarantinoisahack I think you're overthinking this a little too much. what people say in real life isn't supposed to bea hidden metaphor. trying to get the double meaning out of it?

  • @pgill15 No those Americans who think that are morons and deserve the same bludgeonings they would give out to others. You don't attack people like that for their affiliation as you know jack all about them.

But still it's obvious that Indians wear turbans too as you can see from all those movies and such like The Temple of Doom.

The reaction of Sikhs is typical though they say "I'm a Sikh, not a Muslim!", so they have no problem with Muslims getting killed, just not them.

  • @pgill15 Yeah but I know what is the difference between fear mongering and a legitimate concern.

  • @tarantinoisahack but it's never bad to think positive. My dads ust so negative that he always tries to find the bad in someone first. he thinks all srangers wanna kidnap me. paranoia is annoying.and so is negativity. and so is close mindedness.

  • @tarantinoisahack hmm. I guess you're right about that. that's why when people say american's are ignorant, I think it's also the sikhs fault for not letting them know about us int he first place. but after that attack sikhs are starting to come together to tell people about us. I guess they were just naive. but now they know it's gonna take a little more to fit in society than just be a shadow.
