And yeah, my Latin's pretty darn poor. But that doesn't stop Worldview Everlasting from wishing it was authentic when AskdaPastor2.0 takes on questions about technology and the Christian New Obedience, as well as marvels at the mysterious glory that could have been Lutheran contemporary chorale ... if we'd not forgotten...

  • What's the title/artist of that song at the end???

  • @LadyTerj121 Globus - Diem Ex Dei

  • Are you saying we shouldn't be using your videos to aid understanding? I haven't seen the study you referenced, but my gut reaction is take with a grain of salt. I am a little to familiar with the poor scholarship that is educational studies, to dump something because of one study. Of course, it could be my hard science biases showing. One of the best arguments for tech - mother of three sitting by herself.

  • @aggierev It's the entire field of media ecology. And no, I am not saying we shouldn't use videos. I'm staying we should be students of media ecology. :) Start with Neil Postman's "Amusing Ourselves to Death" if you'd like some further reading. :)

  • Great video! While bringing up the LW article, you addressed the important issues involved in using video and related media in church worship services, and answered them well. One point about video media worth mentioning, though, is technical problems that arise, causing mis-cues between what is on the screen and what is actually happening in the service. I find this so distracting that I would rather not use the screen, but rather something on paper. Thank you for the good work you do.

  • FTR, if you had translation problems with the Latin, it might not be because your Latin is bad... the latin in the song is pretty questionable.

  • @Revfiskj Thank you for the clarification and I'll add the book to my list. You have a point, we need to be students of communication in general, in order that we may effectively communicate with the people around us. I just read your LW article, some of those arguments sound familiar but the one I hear is "it will be easier to get kids to go to confirmation (aka stay in church) if you make it more multimedia and less like a classroom"

  • Rev Fisk .I like the way that you assumed in charity that the asker is asking an honest question ..It is always important for pastors to try to realize that it isn't easy for some people to ask provocative questions .. I know it gets tiresome when there are so many who simply wish to start a fight . But it is better to err on the side of Grace whenever possible ..

  • Didn't Pres. Obama get is trouble with PETA for killing a bug on camera? In any case, thanks again for a great video.

  • Hey rev Fisk. The video looks lots better than the last one. Some comments:

    1) That head tracking that the camera does... not nice, especially when you overlay the words because then the background movement is very distracting.

    2) The video is interlaced, which causes lines when there is movement like when you flip out the paper to read from it. De-interlace it before uploading.

    3) Lighting? I cant see you cool hair-do anymore.

Lastly, most importantly... Rock on preacher... viva la propaganda!
