People Who Died cover - Jim Carroll (RIP)

Jim Carroll, poet, musician, inspiration, died on friday. the world found out last night, and i've been absolutely crushed all day.

he was the first poet whose work i'd ever really connected with in a meaningful, personal way. i owe him more than i can ever explain. this is a probably-terrible rendition of his best-known song, people who died.

i had to pay him tribute somehow.

thanks for saying so; i've kept playing this song and my arrangement has gotten tighter i think, but i had to do something to commemorate him on the day i found out, get something out there, share my grief with the world etc. he really meant a lot to me, i miss him like a member of my own family had passed.

I can't say I miss him like family member, but I had a profound respect for his work - poetically and musically. He was an honest artist - no pretention, just truth.
