Camilo Mejia on GI Resistance to the War against Iraq

Camilo Mejia addressed a packed room on June 16, 2007 during the 2-part Roundtable - Iraq: the Soldiers' Rebellion. He spoke on a panel with Iraq Veterans Against the War members. Mejia, a former Staff Sergeant of the Florida National Guard, spent 6 months in Iraq. On furlough in the US, he refused to return to duty in Iraq as a matter of conscience. He was sentenced to a year in a military prison. During his custody, he was recognized by Amnesty International as a prisoner of conscience and was awarded the Courageous Resister Award by Refuse and Resist.
