No, the key is not a quest to kill the last boss, its the quest where you have to comit suiced to talk to the questgiver, once you have the quest you have to kill Fineous then take the item he drops back to where the "rare" (in quotes since I see him 100% of time) Pyromancer is to turn into the satue... the quest giver is by the summoning stone in that rock held up by chains (again have to be dead to see him)
