This is my idea for project 10 to the 100th.
An interactive website where children and adults from anywhere in the world can go to further their education. Focusing initially on math and science, the website would aim to provide an education from an elementary level through the level of doctorate. Eventually these courses would strive to be accredited internationally in pursuit of certification, college credit, and etcetera.
By using a system of placement tests and records of completed courses, students will be able to study subjects of their choice at a level and pace that's right for them. Courses will be customizable in an interactive multimedia format stimulating both visual and auditory learners for faster, more efficient assimilation and maximum retention. Once a course is completed, the next progressive level would become available.
The project would first find accredited primary, secondary, and post secondary schools to team up with in the development of the courses. Once completed, the courses would then be made available to the general public as well as schools and educators around the world for supplementary learning.
Though initially seeking to develop courses in math and science, the project would add courses in social sciences, literature, and foreign languages. In addition, the courses would strive to eventually be provided to students in all languages. In this way, the next generation could not only possess a common accessibility for education, but could also learn to communicate with each other through common languages.
The combination of this resource with educational programs such as OLPC will give the children of many nations opportunities that they might have never thought possible.
