We went and drove Telkwa Pass this weekend. Oct 2/2010
We left at 8 am and arrived home 11:30 pm. It was a major trip. Only 260 km from Rupert to Telkwa but unbelievable terrain.
Many folks had said we wouldn't make it in our trucks. I was in a 2004 Ford Explorer and Eric was in a Toyota Forerunner. Both vehicles have been lifted and built for 4x4ing so we decided to go against the odds. On the trail quaders and dirt bikers said we wouldn't make it as well but when we did make it a group came by and said "I can't believe you guys made it.
The terrain varied, about half of the 135 km of gravel was just fire road but the other half was narrow quad trails, creek beds, washed out trails and land slide covered quad trail. We had to move several bolders just so we could make it by. Eric had a winch which made the work on one of them possible.
All in all it was a great trip and I'd recommend it to any group of 4x4 vehicles. The trail is narrow and if you're worried about your paint there's about 30 km of trail that is only brush and trees against your paint.

  • Awesome job there guy's...wasn't sure that Explorer could make it through.

Pretty cool to see both of us out there running are own videos of our respective play in the pass that day.

  • @bkrgi I love the first person perspective that you get on your bike though. It makes me even more amazed that we made it in the trucks.

  • what kind of lift do have on you X and where did you get it from?

  • @FordmoPar69 It's a 2004 Ford Explorer. I lifted it with a 3" body lift and a 2.5" coil susspension lift.

  • @zpaperboy who'd you get it from, I've got a 2005 and i havent been able to find one outside of people making them in their back yard

  • @FordmoPar69 - Made in my backyard. lol. $15,000 and its yours. That'll cover what I owe not what I have into it. My banker would love me.
