"CANZONE PER L'ESTATE" COVER VERSION

Canzone per l'estate è il quadretto di una famiglia di estrazione proletaria, che è riuscita faticosamente a guadagnarsi un posto in una classe sociale più alta, rinunciando però ad ogni sogno, ad ogni aspettativa, in nome delle abitudini borghesi. L'interlocutore è il marito, al quale sono rivolti gli interrogativi "com'è che non riesci più a volare?", che si ripetono ad ogni ritornello. Le strofe non sono altro che un elenco di personaggi o situazioni tipici della famiglia borghese, a cominciare dalla moglie che lava i piatti in cucina e non capisce (immagine molto stridente con quella della donna proletaria, ormai libera dai ruoli di classe), passando poi al cane, alla figlia già vanitosa e frivola che si prova il vestito nuovo davanti allo specchio. Non manca neanche l'insoddisfazione sessuale del marito, che comunque risolve il problema grazie ad una amante che si sveglia a tutto quel che le regali.
Quando questa canzone venne scritta poteva essere riferita a poche persone, ma di lì a poco sarebbero stati in molti ad abbandonare le vecchie lotte e i vecchi ideali per abbracciare una vita più tranquilla e borghese; anche in questo i due cantautori (De André e De Gregori) sono stati profeti.
Lo stesso titolo, Canzone per l'estate, può essere interpretato come un accenno a quello scadimento evasivo e commerciale nei vari festivalbar e dischi per l'estate, quando la canzone perde la funzione di momento educativo e di riflessione.
