  • @BMXStatus302 the whole point of the 4 bladed tail rotor is to reduce noise....thats its #1 selling point. 2 bladed tail rotors are much louder.

  • wat hapnd

  • also...random...but ive noticed that in cold conditions sound tends to travel further anyways. plus, these guys are in the middle of nowhere which means less sound around to make it easier to hear things in the distance.

beautiful scene at 0:49 - has a "children of men" of cloverfield feel to it dont ya think?

  • I think you mean the turbine makes the whining sound.... Also, not all 500s use the 4 blade TR. A lot of operators prefer the 2 bladed setup. Also, the 4 bladed TR is quieter than the 2.....

  • theres only one reason that you can hear that MD500 from that far away. it has the four bladed tail rotor. thats what makes that whining sound

  • How bout the KMAX, can hear that comin from miles but yea love to hear the MD500 too.

  • Hueys sound good too..But the 500 is the best sounding 5 blade imo..I actually got to fly a Bell 205A1++ which is basically a Super Huey.

  • Don't forget Hueys!

  • Always no an MD when you hear it..Best sounding helicopter ever built.

  • what was the occasion
