  • Eddie Arcaro said that Swaps would have won the triple crown but he was poorly managed. I agree.

  • I had a son of swaps, a gelding that was by the time I got him in terrible shape and dying of colic. I got him for the price of the vet to save him. I rode him for about 5 years as a dressage horse, and some jumping. He was the most beautifu mover and could jump, and gorgeous, but he was a real nut job and would rear over backwards and into ditches, etc. to rid himself of a rider sometimes. He looked very like Swaps very regal.

  • Thanks for this video. Always felt sorry for Swaps. A beautiful, talented horse with great courage and heart. Too bad he was handled by people who thought a thoroughbred race horse should be treated like a cow pony. Must have had a strong constitution/stamina to survive that treatment and do what he did. What he accomplished racing on 3 good legs was phenomenal. Setting speed records too. It's a shame they raced him against Nashua with that inflamed right front hoof. Swaps was great!

  • You don't see many owners leading their horses off of planes or trailers these days, and all the horses are led on lip chains, which I hate.

  • very nice, thank you for uploading!

  • Mi corazon!

  • He was amazing. What a beautiful horse he was too, with such a soft eye and expression.

  • What a horse.

  • One of the most beautiful, graceful, and efficient horses of all time. He broke world records for speed at several distances. That's ALL you can ask of any horse, to dominate history and his peers in his own era. This horse should be on everyone's top 20 list.

  • @Jude74 He wasn't managed poorly. They didn't view that as their priority.

  • I love Swaps. But while it is true that Citation never won at 5 with 130+ on his back, the following should be noted: he never finished worse than 2nd, and never by more than a length. The great Noor, in the HOF, was disgracefully underweighted (110, 114), and had to set American and World records in order to beat Cy by the smallest of margins.

  • My mare is descended from Swaps. Awesome sporthorse.
