burton really wanted this fight. great show. ward didn't let burton do his dance like he normally does.

I don't much care for Ward's smothering, jab-less, forward leaning, slugging style style but it's what he knows. It's reminds me of Rocky Marciano who was a tough fighter but didn't have much in the way of boxing skills. He was at least smart enough to know his weaknesses and use what he could to his advantage. Anyway, while these guys aren't great boxers they both gave their all and that is something I hope we can all appreciate despite the judges obscenely lopsided scoring and decision.

it's an example of burton/augustus getting ripped by the judges tho. 96-91 and 98-90 when emmanuel landed over 100 more punches at a 46% clip (compared to 27%)???

the knockdown helped ward, but not THAT much. they pretty much said that burton lost every round, which is complete bullshit.

the knockdown was the determining factor. eventhough augustus got back up and kept fighting. if he returned the favor, it would have went to the cards.
