Western Digital Black 640 GB HDD - Loading 10 Programs Simultaneously - Testing for on3network.co.nz

As noted this is part of an online review of the 50GB OCZ Vertex 2 50GB - with the 640GB Western Digital Black here used for comparison.

Ten programs (calc, Chrome, IE 8, uTorrent, MPC-HC x64, iTune, Excel, Word, Access and iometer) are simultaneously opened using a .bat file. Oh and apologies for the lack of editing.

Test System:
Core i7 860 @ 4.0 (HT on)
4GB DDR3 1600 CL8 (dual channel)
Sapphire ATI HD 5870
MSI P55-GD65
OCZ Vertex 2 - 50GB (v1.0 firmware)

Drive connected via Intel ICH10R controller in IDE mode.

Really goes to show how ready SSD's are for holding the OS and the usual core of applications. The WD black is a fast drive as well.
