An excerpt from the marvelously depressing film version of 1984, which has a few other parts floating around Youtube. Here, Winston Smith comes home from an office crappier than Initech could ever dream of being, about to crack open his diary for the first time.
Something about that voice is hypnotic.
@avengemm9dog It's not, but it's still a great film.

@HexagonalBolts - I agree. The film really gets you - the music, the lighting and cinematography and the general mood of it gets the point and feeling across of the book. I think George Orwell would most likely have approved of the film.

I disagree, I'm a literature student and 1984 is one of my utmost favourite books and I still think that this movie is a masterful and faithful recreation of the text.

The scene that shows the tobacco falling out of the cigarette gets me every time...the only funny moment in the movie, which is worth watching for more important reasons.

i always heard that this book was made into a movie. Can anyone tell me if it's any good.
I doubt it is as good as the book.
