  • must demonstrate sizing the C-Collar. Center strap first. Video skipped ischial strap demo kind of important. We had to also demonstrate lifting the patient to determine that the KED was properly secure.

  • @MtHoodMedia At 1:55 she does demonstrate sizing and applying the collar. If your site requires the ischial straps (which the NREMT does not), then you should apply them. Most sites do not, as that portion of the KED is rarely used. Not often you have to pull the patient straight up and out of the vehicle. Most often the KED is used when moving a stable patient out the vehicle door and onto a backboard. And other than the head straps being last, their is no required order for applying them.

  • Actually, the leg straps are not required for this skill station. See the NREMT skill sheet located here: nremt.org/downloads/spinalimmobilizationseated.pdf. Only the torso and head straps are required. This is a multiple function device. It can be used as a short spine board and/or an extrication device. The only time the ischial straps are really necessary are when you are puling someone straight up through the roof. Since that is not part of this scenario, they weren't applied.

  • @varnlestoff nremt

  • @SilentEarthxx826 Do you use the golden rod papers for practicals, or are you taking NREMT assessments?

  • Personally, I don't think she handled the woman well when they made her go forward. Grabbing the front of the cervical collar. To me, it looked like she was choking her, even if she wasn't. Just looked weird to me. Also, remember the acronym MBLTRH M=middle B-bottom L-legs T-top R-readjust H-head when securing the straps. My test is tomorrow. Hopefully I'll remember this IF I get the seated patient haha. Good demonstration.

  • Why were the ischial straps not fastened? Are they not necessary? If you pick that girl up by the KED, won't she slide out the bottom?

  • she didn't put the pelvic straps
