Bakelite Banjo

Sometimes you do things in whim, or is it divine timing???....it was not until I returned to the car with banjo in hand that realised I'd bought a Bakelite Banjo!!
I had seen these before, in my browsings ala banjo's, on ebay, craiglists, etc..the ad did NOT mention the fact it was bakelite, which would not have altered my investigation, anyway....the price allowed the splurge..(kind of) I will try and sell something to cover it anyway...(guilt factor) Been looking for a 50-100 $ banjo not perfect, but playable....this one, with new strings, some adjustments, maybe a new skin head..(sometime) will suit me fine, suit me well:-) My beloved deering banjo was parted with some number of years back, to survive, pay bills, buy food,..... I have missed it ever since....I will NEVER play it good and proper, but it brings me joy, and that is what matters, in the long run. Thanks for taking the maiden voyage w/me....still have not cleaned it, needs new strings..but i wrought a few notes out,..just for a lark.NOW, back to work!!
Happy New Year, to all , I cannot respond..immersed in things and more things piled up....banjo follies took the free time, today. .......hoping the world "finds their banjo" (or flute, drum, uke, guitar, marimba, conga, harp, steel drum, cigar box guitar....etc etc etc --you get the idea!), ....like I did mine.....it might be life changing;-) ya never know!

My previous was a 1980 Deering...found on ebay, came from Nashville..loved the "ring" tone--but boy o boy was it heavy---!!LOL... I hope you'll be inspired to "get to it" RE the peg! ...i can relate to undone things.....I buy strings--sometimes takes months to put them on!....hehe...I've an unfinished train song--your own fine train song reminded me...it is in limbo...must dust it off and get it here...thanks for listening...my fav sorta songs just birth themselves easy:-)Cheers!

Oh, I've had two of them. The first one was a Gibson one (the best, I think), and now a Deering one waiting to have substitute the fifth string peg (almost four years ago that plastic peg break in two) that I've already bought but not still putted on. The song is beautiful, really beautiful. Paul
