When Andy took this mad machine to Birmingham IMM2009 he wasnt epecting to see any trouble with his recently aquired and rebuilt 2 litre vaux powered mini engine , but it did on the third day in the Longbridge event he entered the car to the noisyest exhaust competition all went fine , we left the arena travelled 100 yards and heard a tink tink donk donk at which time i shouted turn it off !!!
later back at the ranch a few weeks later we had a look and when removing the cam belt cover and discovered a spring lying on top of the timing belt in the bottom !! due to some monkeys absolute un proffesional decision to use something as feeble as a spring which could only be described as a throttle spring to keep the tensioner taught , the spring had jumped off causing the belt to aquire over an inch of play causing timing issues and ultimately with this type of interference engine to do the unspeakable . yes the valves met the pistons !!! jeeez £££££££££££££££££ !
forgive me for not getting something right on the subject but this is the first time i have ever had dealings with the 2.0L 16v XE engine , i have allways dealt with a series all my life , constructive comments are more than welcome and would apreciate some helpful hints to !
you got that mixed up. no1 is the other end lol.
