i am very surprised that the plane reacted in this way by a relatively small overweight and a 5% rearward CG shift. Especially because the plane had made a number of succesful flights after the last (improperly done) maintenance one would still wonder what these pilots did differently from the other ones?

@emachines34 it's not that, it's that everything got pushed to the back, wasn't balanced properly
Loss of pitch control due to incorrect rigging of the elevator control system. Also, the center of gravity of the plane was too far aft. In short, the latter was caused because wrong assumptions were made about the average weight of passengers and bags. It appeared that the average weight used in by airlines did not account for certain flights with many heavy bags and for the increasing average weight of U.S. adults.
