Shoptask CNC Howto.
Please leave comment or question.

I wanted to give some ideas on how to add (convert) a Mill to ball screws for CNC use. The shoptask 3in1 is a good candidate, they can be found for a good price. This machine is controlled with Mach3 software and is driven with Gecko 203v stepper drivers. The ballscrews are rolled
quality and have 2 ballnut on both X axis and Y axis only
1 ball nut on each side of the Z axis.

Optional titles:
shoptask ballscrew howto
shoptask ball screw how-to
homemade CNC

  • @kheston I posted a video of the controller. Don't know if it will help or not.

  • Thanks for posting this! There is so little documentation and so few posts about this particular machine, great to see I'm not the only one that still has one of them.

I'm in the process of converting an identical ShopTask 1720 XMTC to CNC. Would you mind posting descriptions or video of your steppers/drivers and other electronics? Thanks again.
