'let me go, and I will run' Cally's Story

So here goes..
Back in 2007 we were asked if we would like to go and see a pony (after Puzzle) who was on trail to someone else, but was proving to be too much for them. They told us the pony had been left in a field for 3 years as the old owners were scared of her.
We turned up to find a small dark pony, in very poor condition. I could almost see her ribs through her dull woolly coat and she windsucked. She was uninterested, and had a sad look in her eyes. The pony was Cally.
I will never forget the first ride. She was an angel for the first 15 minutes, and didn't put a foot out of place. We then saw her other side, she bucked spooked and bolted, but not once did I feel unsafe on her.
We were then told she had never really jumped. I came to realize what a big project I had ahead of me, and I had learnt so much about her in sucha short space of time; she was terrified of cars, vans, water, she hated dogs and her lack of jumping, but none of this put me off her at all. She was scared of fillers, and nearly jumped me off every time, but we were willing to work at it, and for the next few months we gradually built up her confidence, doing smaller shows and progressing felt like the best thing ever.
After our first amazing summer together, disaster struck. Early one morning we I came down to find Cally had kicked through the back of her stable and got her leg stuck, it was only a matter of time before things could have gotten fatal. It took 7 people to get her leg out, and the vet told us they were unsure of what was going to happen. After only a year with my amazing pony it looked like we were already going to lose her. For the next 5 and a half months Cally having a full recovery was all I wanted, and we were so lucky to get it.
I couldn't have been happier once she was back in full work, I had my pony back :) I had planned a summer full of competing and funn.
But something still wasn't right, she wasn't herself at all. She would viciously buck and nap, her personality had completely changed and she wasn't Cally. It turns out she had an ulcer, so after the setback of 5 and a half months there was another one, but I was just so determined to have my old Cally back.
She then came back stronger than ever. We had banished her fear of water and cars and she proved to me what a heart of a lion she has to still love what she does. We were selected for teams in all three disciplines, competing at South of England with the crowds were amazing, such a high point after all that had happened. We competed at Royal Windsor, and at the Area Champs she gained two 1st's and a 3rd, making her the highest placed pony and receiving the title of the best newcomer pony. She has taken me from jumping grassroots to Foxhunter and beyond, we were also asked to joing the British Young Rider Dressage Team. She is most recently the novice show jumping champion for the South.
She is incredible in every way, and I cant stress how much she has taught me. Shes shown me that passion, perseverance and determination all pay off. She is the biggest, littlest legend out there, and honestly has a heart of gold. I am so lucky to have had her in my life, she has got me through so much. To this day I have not looked back once, the best memories of my life have all been with her. Cally, I love you!

On the Cally front now, shes being ridden by an incredible little rider, who Cally is showing the ropes in the big bad world of show jumping! She will fully be back with us in 2/3 years, but shes at the same yard so its like she hasn't gone whatsoever! She's qualified for Equifest so if you're going come and cheer her on!

This is lovely. It really counts when you stick with your pony how ever many bad things are thrown at you, it always comes right in the end, i should know :)) My 13.2 pony was a lot like your pony to start with but after 2 years she was the best pony ever xxx Your an amazing rider and it would mean a lot if you subbed back xxx

Hey, I'm posting on here as can't on your wall as I'm on my phone. I use to be AWequestrian and owned Billy - a black cob X, and last time I spoke to you I had just bought my mare Pandora, and you had got your new warmblood.
