  • Oh yes, don't forget to mention the Turks by the way, who's country we were invading! I've got more respect for the Turkish soldiers who were only fighting to defend their country from the invading British and ANZACs.

    I'm a New Zealander too.

  • The Turks also had a speaker, the fact that this tv show chose not to show him has nothing to do with the ceremony itself. The ANZAC service at Gallipoli is as much for the Turks as it is for the ANZACS, the Turkish defenders are remembered as well. ALL the fallen are remembered and thanked regardless of the uniform they wore. This service is about the futility of war as much as it is about the bravery of the soldiers.

  • Poor British Tommy, who formed the bulk, get little mention. Nearly every street in Lancashire towns had a family member killed, Lancashire Fusileers, Manchester REgiment etc

  • Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives, you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. therefore rest in peace. there is no difference between the johnnies and the mehemets to us where they lie side by side in this country of ours.

you, the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears, your sons are now lying in our bosoms and are in peace. after having lost their lives on this land they become our sons as well.

    Kemal ATATURK

  • oh here it is again, the British mentality...

we Turks have a phrase "if your neigbours fight each other, check around there should be a British close to them"

I still have hope for you. Maybe in the next generations.

  • @andyesq

People like you make me keep my faith in humanity ! Because of you I shall respect every New Zealander and Australian because finally I found a person that doesn't scream "God damn those unbelievers and their rotten religion ! " This is what leads to hate, you hear people say bad things about stuff they don't know a clue about and make other people share their bad opinion ! Thanks to people like you people honor each other I wish there were more people like you.

  • That is North beach. ANZAC Cove is the next beach south. More room for the big ceremony at north however

  • @randominitializer the wehrmacht (german army) are remembered, we dont remember or hold ceremonys for Nazis because 1) Nazi is a political party 2) SS groups are paramilitary, not military like the wehrmacht are. thus the do not get military recognition.

  • Do we see any ceremony glorifying the fallen Nazi soldiers in France or Norway or Southern England? oh I forgot, the Nazis were racist and do not deserve any respect, and as if the English were not racist around 1900s! What a fucking joke.

  • This is sick. Celebrating the fallen invaders while ignoring the brave defenders.

  • @Taojas Yes, lest we forget.
