  • Hi gydfb

    Thanks for your comments.

Have you had a look at the vids on soldier palmer and zulu for tying in and winding hackles? We have discussed doing a lesson on basic techniques and it is on the agenda. Time is in short supply at present.

  • Thank you for your fine lessons and beautiful flies

  • @xoskyeox Its EASIER with your fingers!!!

  • hi i agree with you on the not using a whip finish tool im only 17 but i dont see the point in then if you can do it just as easy with your fingers

  • That was a nice daddy you tied there david ;) as you say, Do the legs in pairs or you will be there for ages with those little tricky legs lol

My preference is to do 2 double knotted legs and 2 single knotted legs but this is just a preference and takes longer to do.! But i have all the time in the world ATM lol

    10 / 10 again for a quality lesson ;)

  • The spring is a holder for longer material (flash, ribbing, tinsel, etc.) until you need it. As you know, in many patterns you tie this stuff in well before you actually need it on the fly. By placing the material in between the coils of the spring it will hold it out of the way.

  • ive been an avid fly tyer for quite some time now and still to this day i have no idea what this spring clip around the end of my vise is for. it just sits there and i have yet to find a use for it or any value it serves me. i just leave it on my vise cause thats how i bought my vise and figure its there for a reason. can you give me any info of this spring clip on the end of all my vises. i have asked many and none have given me ny answer
