I used to love Abbie Hoffman and romanticized the 60's alot but all one has to do is take a look at what's been built around us. The police are militarized, the prisons are privatized, the government is bought, and it was their generation that sold us out. That peace and love shit won't accomplish anything. Violent revolution is the only way out. They really thought getting high and having orgies set them apart from the establishment, they fell right into their trap, fucking fools!

Why do you think Hoffman committed suicide? 'Cause he was depressed? No, because he was a traitor to the cause. No different than Palin, Cain, & Biden today: traitors all.

@gjc82071 Hi. Yes, I think that certain aspects of the 60s should return. The point I made about your comment was a lot about the materialism and greed of today, hindering anyone's attempt to spearhead a vital movement. Yet, something can and should be done and very soon. Politics will never save us. Good people rising up, taking action, with kindness and results, will. I certainly do not like the radical part of the 60s.

@SeattleLA But maybe my opinion is a bit off. Look at what's happened since? The Occupy Wall St. protests. Granted they aren't on the same level/size as the 60's protests, but it's a start. As more and more people lose their jobs, homes, savings, etc, (and you can bet they will) to corporate & government corruption,greed & malfeasance, etc, you may see more & larger protests. If/when that happens, with 1 exception (the rich get richer....) I am not sure what the ultimate outcome will be.

There were young people in the 60' who didn't “get it”. Brainwashed by their parents, church, school and society. They believed everything they were told, never question and never rebelled - they had no balls. They also never got laid because all of the really fine chicks were freaks. These people were a sorry bunch. There's something familiar about the people here who are knocking Abbie and the 60's counterculture. They lack the wisdom to study within context but they sure do know how to hate.
