  • What about #7 of the Ten Commandments, "Thou shalt not kill."

  • @ChristianChannel1 - What does that mean? Can't mean literally the prohibition to take any/all life, as God was telling the Israelites to go to war a little later, and also striking people down dead for touching the Ark of the Covenant!

  • Technically, the bible says nothing about it, but there is a part that mentions something kind of similar.

Exodus 21:22-23 "If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life."

Isn't abortion deliberate? And he's punished by husband or court, not by god.

  • @JonDGee - This passage is not really applicable to the issue of abortion. Abortion is the deliberate act of terminating a pregnancy, but in this case the woman miscarries not through any choice/necessity, but simply because she was hit by someone.

  • People claim "Thou shalt not kill!" Yeah well the Bible also says to not worship anyone other than God, yet Christians worship Jesus. Bible also says not to use the Lord's name in vain, everyone does that, or lie. Bible also says you can't work on Sundays.

. . .Yep we're all going to hell. I hate when pro-lifers bring religion into the debate.

  • Actually, it is there - only the argument goes the other way:

"And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him." -- Numbers 31:15-17

"Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up." -- Hosea 13:16

  • The Bible never once mentions the word abortion; therefore never specifies the difference between killing in the womb and killing out of it. It's not exactly open to interpretation what the Bible says about killing. Im Christian, I believe He condemns abortion too. But who are we to say what God would deem ok? We are not God and therefore we cannot judge until he reveals to us Himself what is right on this subject. What about 'LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR'. Guys stop condemning. Does God condemn? No.

  • The bible talks about abortion so many times... He is our creator,,if you just had an abortion is time to repent right now..,There is an apocrypho book that talks about those mothers that had an abortion in hell,,They will see there babies there..The mothers are tormented for thier crimes for killing their babies..The babies are taking to heaven, but they will see their babies while being tormented there.. REPENT!!!!

  • @ChristianChannel1 plus, that commandment doesn't even mention if we should kill animal or human life. I could understand pro-lifers more if they were all vegetarians.
