General Hospital - 1997 Monica visits Lesley

February 27, 1997. Monica visits Lesley at the Spencer home instead of going to the hospital. Lesley's mind is a bit out of sorts since she was kidnapped by the Cassidines and kept in a drugged state for years. She had recently returned to Port Charles after Luke and Laura rescued her and made everybody believe that she and Laura were dead.

It had been a while since the two of them have shared a scene together. It's nice to see the writers remembered that they had a history and allowed them these scenes. Too bad the current writers forgot and we didn't see Lesley at Alan's memorial. (I always thought Alan and Lesley felt like comrades in arms when it came to the Rick/Monica affair.)

But why did Monica refer to Leslie as a friend? Monica was a total bitch to Leslie. The good old days

Monica mellowed....but you'll also notice that Monica was looking at Laura when she said she wanted to spend the time with a friend...and it was Laura that reassured her that she was still a friend. Lesley, in her incapacitated state, still remembers that Monica wasn't the friendliest...her comments are unfiltered because her mind is just so fuzzy. It's great!

When Rick came back to the show. I missed it when he and Lesley talked.  I think it may have been at Rubys Diner

ohh, that would be a few years later than this. I actually have very few episodes from the 2000's. Just a few from 2005.

I remember watching GH one day and the VERY NEXT day it was revealed that Leslie went over a cliff in her car and died. Denise Alexander has asked for a short vacation from the show because she was near exhaustion. She pressed too hard. She was immediately fired.

Actually, if anyone besides me remembers, Monica and Leslie had made their peace, and become friendly again, if not actual friends, LONG before Leslie "died"!

I love the way that Laura and Monica were quite good friends despite the whole Rick thing. Watching GH today you would never know how close Laura and Monica were and probably wouldn't even realise they used to be friends. Guza has tried to dump the past, so sad how GH will never be the same.

This is such a great scene. I think it would be fitting for Monica and Lesley to become reluctant friends. After all, they are older and wiser and all the other dear old friends have gone. I would love to see the scene with Rick and Lesley. I'm still mad at Gloria Monty for firing Denise in '84 (how stupid that was) and I'm furious with Guza and Phelps for erasing the great love story that Rick and Lesley had!

Yeah Alan and Lesley were like comrades.

Did they sometimes work at the clinic together? Cuz I thought the three of them *Les, Alan, Rick*rotated or overlapped shifts there.

And by the time of Lesley's "death"...Monica and Lesley were not pure enemies...but rather tolerating one another.
