I've seen MAB's Speed Kills 1. I changed the first exercise though. Since most shredders pick 3 notes on EACH string, it makes sense to play 3 notes on the next string.

yes alternet picking allows you to play extremelly fast not shreding thats not what i mean,
but it lets you play and switch from string to string at a speed you would never achive by simply just down strokes,
just start on one string going fret 1,2,3,4. 1,2,3,4. 1,2,3,4. ..... and do that alternet picking then start switching strings and you be a pro do it watching tv, best way to practice

if you're not alternate picking you are hurting yourself because that is something you should learn in the beginning. It's real quite simple you see, after the pick goes down it goes back up and then back down... and then up, in a sort of ping-pongy motion.

in my opinion yes and when u do learn to alternate pick u will find some songs alot easier and may even enjoy playing them more.
a great way to learn is pick the G string down then up then pick the D string down then up and keep alternating between the 2 while gradually getting faster.

btw how many days or months should i practice to get that speed??

at first you should get your picking hand at a high speed like 200bpm in tremolo picking and then start practicing with both hands and then you can combine picking exersices and lefta hand exersices.i dont know your skills so i cant really tell but if you are at 130bpm on a 12notes bar you should increase your speed in the next year at 160+ if you practice the proper way.

Hi whenever I tremolo the A string, my thumb always scratches the upper E string due to the vibration, which is starting to burn my thumb now. Is that normal? anyway to get around this? thanks

reposition your thumb or if needed all your hand to stop doint this because you ll have noise problem when you solo later in the future.Its a bad habbit you must stop it.
