Can you use the left over liquid as starter in other fermentations? I want to make apples chutney but I cut WHEY out of my diet so can I use this liquid instead? I think it should work but I did not know if the apples sugar would over kill the liquid from sauerkraut I made.

Your kidneys filter out excess salt from your body vargas, so no big deal. Obviously you wouldn't be eating this every day, so a salty meal here and there is not going to kill you! To me, sounds like the benefits outweigh any negatives.

Also dont you need to use pickling or non iodized salt?

It ferments with just water and salt? No starter needed?

Nice video; I also had no idea about the folk remedies for constipation and acne. Sauerkraut is also probiotic rich, making it very good for stomach and colon digestion. I make my sauerkraut "Greek-style" with little-or-no salt using the whey from strained yogurt.

I had no idea it helps with acne. Crazy. Thanks for the info.

thanks for the tip!
One thing that puts me off a lot of sauerkraut in the shops is the amount of salt they put in it which possibly cancels out some of the goodness so what you've done is a better alternative!
