"All for Animals" host Susan Richard interviews the ASPCA's Dr. Emily Pointer about the rise in the number of dogs in the New York metropolitan area falling ill from a bacterial infection called leptospirosis in the summer of 2009. Dr. Pointer explains what leptospirosis is, how it's treated, and what you can do to prevent your dog from getting sick.

"All for Animals" is a New York City based program designed to further the cause of animal welfare by offering useful information to pet parents and encouraging the adoption of homeless pets, to help NYC achieve its goal of becoming a no-kill city.

Susan Richard is a long time radio personality who can be heard anchoring the news on 1010WINS. Visit www.susanrichard.com.
