The Chinese engine kit I bought off of Ebay to mount on my 70's Schwinn Cruiser wasn't quite what I had hoped it to be in terms of reliability, in fact, it blew up.
I replaced the engine with a Morini S5K2 50cc moped eng, had to fab up my own mounts but it works great AND is actually faster than the old 80cc Chinese wonder it replaced (and MUCH quieter mechanically).
I have approx 50miles on this bike now with zero issues. Centrifical clutch and a lighting coil built into the magneto for a headlight..cool huh?

  • wouldn't that be required to be registered to run on the streets in California? And what about licensing?

  • @jko9581 .......... still a grey area but when I rode it the local officer's only paid attention because they wanted one too :)

  • How many miles per gallon?

  • @SaviourSole .............. approx 90mpg was the best it did at that stage, but we had not optimized the gearing yet so I expect there would have been more.

  • was the bike in good condition? if it was that was really stupid to take that off that bike, there worth alot of money. if youve ever watched the show pawn stars, theres sold for 7200, you could have bought a whole lot of those chinese engines

  • @1990fordf150custom ................. watch TV much? :) When those Pawn Star clowns paid the orig owner they screwed themselves since the bike was not/ is not worth even that. They sold those little Indian's and Ital Jet's (same motor/bike frame) all through the middle to late '70's. They HAD to do something so they make up a fake story and now every one of these mini's is worth a fortune even if it's been rotting for 15yrs in a carport! Sucks.

  • @jko9581 registration fee and plate, m2 or m1 motorcycle license, insurance

  • @mrlaydback1 .............. sorry but there is no kit for this setup, all the mounting plates and drives were handmade in my workshop. The engine is a Morini S5K2 I believe.

  • @julzhickman ................. pay a little more attention to the front wheel's hub, what do you see? Ah, yes :) Agreed that the rear wheel's coaster brake was not strong enough. Nope, not dead....LOL

  • @Taconic66 ........... good advise yes I should have one on here in the video, I normally don't ride without...thanks.

  • @sonicX147 ............I think you're asking if it runs on gasoline? Yes.

  • @athenasword1 .........Thank you, the project worked very well. Too bad we couldn't have continued to develop it as some SOB stole it a while back :(
