Baby Chinchilla's First Time

Saki is not afraid at all of being handled for the first time! This is typically in contrast to chinchillas you might play with from a farm or a store, where physical contact with humans is limited.

When a chinchilla is born it needs to be handled (carefully) by a human right from the start so that they learn the art of socializing with humans. The human contact or touch is required for the chinchilla to grow up to be loving and affectionate. Make sure you play with your kits regularly!

@mizepicninja They may sometimes nibble on your finger, but it doesn't hurt. The baby chinchillas have gotten used to being held, so they rarely nibble me now, if at all.

@megsearch they can have 1-4 babies not 1-6 and should never ever be left with the male because as soon as she gives birth she could be pregnant again and that is very hard on her body
