Highlights from the 2005 USC vs Fresno State game. In a game which many feel secured his Heisman Trophy, Reggie Bush ran for 294 yards on 23 carries, and finished with a total of 513 all-purpose yards (2nd all-time). The #16 Bulldogs made a good game of it, taking a 42-41 lead with less then 10 minutes left, but the #1 Trojans came back to win, 50-42.

USC's defense sucked that year. Fresno state put up 42 points on them, along with Notre Dame and other schools putting up big numbers. USC needed the defense from the year before to stop Vince Young.

@drumba5 Yea this would be a good rivalry. Both teams have only played twice in '05 and in 1992. The series is tied 1-1.

@collegefootballrulez yeah i agree. When you guys get good again i would love to see a rematch of this game.

@drumba5 Yea ever since that game we have been on a huge down slide. After that loss we lost 4 straight including the bowl game. Then the next year we went 4-8. Between 2007-2010. We only won one bowl game and we lost bowl games to Wyoming, Northern Illinois, and Colorado State.
I think that USC loss was a turning point for our program, our team quit. We lost that swagger and that Pride of the Valley. We finally fired Pat Hill, a couple weeks ago. Hopefully we can return to glory.

@collegefootballrulez I know how you feel i did the same thing after the texas game. i would have been pissed if i was a fresno fan. Yeah it does but im a trojan forever and we are starting to get it back we went 10-2 this year beating oregon. if barkkey stays we should atleast get a rose bowl bid.

@drumba5 I remember this game I was like 8 or 9. I was depressed that Fresno lost. I didn't talk for a good hour lol.
When USC had that dynasty from 2003-2008, did it feel to you that college football had a different feel to it? Maybe it was because we were so young, at the time. Or maybe since USC isn't the villain in the Pac-12, the new villain is Oregon.

I remember watching this game when I was 7 being scared out of my mind. The better team lost the BCS rose bowl that year. It still hurts to this day.

Fresno state fans they're not #1, they lost 57-7 to Boise State this year not 5 years ago. Face it they don't even deserve the top 25. They use to though.
