Focus Pull and Depth Of Field (DOF) test using 24 Frames Per Second (FPS) on CCD capture using Nikkor Lens 50mm set at Aperture f1.8 Nikon D90

Note:
Take notice of the Front and Rear brakes and how the focus alternates between them on a very shallow Depth Of Field (DOF).

Hollywood technique used when two people talk to each other. All other backgrounds are blurred except for the actor. Focus pull is done by manually adjusting the focus ring on the lens barrel between two pre determined distances from the focal plane.

At the time this video was made, there are only 2 Digital SLR's than can capture HD videos. The Nikon D90 with 24 FPS and the Canon 5D Mk2 with 30 FPS.

  • cool, of course you have to remember its really the lens that controls the depth of field

  • @PashaM73 you dont make sense

  • you probably had a weed to smoke before watching, that can make you scared

  • I can see you drooling now! :)

  • Perhaps the Casio Ex-F1 should also be considered an SLR.

If it wasn't for the rolling shutter problem of the Nikon, I'd say it's worth it. In the meantime, I'll settle for the best consumer camera money can buy: the Canon HF100/10/HG20/30/HV30 etc.

Of course, you wouldn't get this kind of depth of field, but still, you'd be surprised what you can do with those Canon HD cameras.

  • Love the camera trick man ^.^
