Thunder [LEGO Rock Band] 100% Expert Vocals (octave shifting tutorial)

I get questions quite often from people who are new to singing in video games, and one of the more frequent questions asked is "How can I sing this song when I can't make my voice go that high/low?"

The answer is octave shifting, and this video is my attempt to provide a practical example to show some of the ways in which it can be used.

100% Gold Star Expert Vocals performance (x2) on Thunder by Boys Like Girls, as it appears in LEGO Rock Band for PlayStation 3.

This song is on-disc for LEGO Rock Band, and is exportable to Rock Band 1 & 2 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game for $10.

As is typical for my videos, the original vocals by Martin Johnson, Bryan Donahue and Paul DiGiovanni are minimized so you can hear what I'm singing.

The left audio channel has me singing in my "normal" singing range. The right audio channel has me singing in falsetto, up one octave.

The top left score and bottom note chart correspond to the left audio (lower range). The top right score and higher note chart correspond to the right side audio (higher range).

Switch the balance on your speakers/headset to hear only one of the two tracks if you are having trouble distinguishing the difference between the lower and higher tones I'm singing.

WOW, thats really cool. I suck at octave shifting and the song "Lay it on the Line" pisses me off because of it. BTW, I think the two different octaves actually adds to this song.
