steve how can you not mention miriam hopkins, she was great in this film

I just saw this film, and Olivia was great, they really made her to look so plain homely, and dull. Ralph Richardson ws also very good,They don't make pictures like this anymore!

Thanks Steve....I just saw the Cohen Bros re-make of 'The Lady Killers' it followed the original in everything but location and yet it just sank!

I am so glad that your reviews are getting longer! A full 10 mins with all the wonderful and interesting back stage details about each movie would be appreciated.
Sometimes your reviews have been more entertaining than the movie.
I wait on tender hooks for your next review!
Johnny loose the beard! NOW!

I rented this from Netflicks for the first time back in February and every time Montgomery Clift came on the screen my jaw dropped because he was so unbelievably hot. Richardson was also nominated for his role, the only nomination he received while he was still alive.
It is hard to say how much I and our group here in the rural Midlands of England love your reviews. Between us we have bought almost ever title you review. YOu are clear and so well informed, you deserve a Network TV slot. The world needs more Steve. All our thanks and a long life to you sir! The Radio Kinver gang

You have made my day!!!
I have a BIG love affair with Great Britain, especially the BBC. I hope to do more classic Brit films in the coming months. "The Ladykillers", "Kind Hearts and Coronets", "The Red Shoes"", I Know Where I'm Going" not to mention the David Lean Dickens adaptations. Thanks so much!!!!

You've hit on yet another of my dearest favorites. So powerful. DeHavilland and Richardson are studies in perfection. With a gorgeous Aaron Copeland score and a viciously satisfying finale, it's one of the greatest dramas ever made.

That final scene with Monty going berserk at the door and the rising Copeland score underneath is one of the greatest finales ever filmed. Breathtaking!

One of my all-time favorite films. And that performance by Cherry Jones on Broadway! A great story...

I was lucky enough to be at the opening night performance of Cherry Jones in "The Heiress" and it was one of the greatest evenings in the theatre I've ever spent.
