@Stev888 Channel 4 and S4C also had theirs on the top right-hand corner for the same reason.
-
@Twigs47 Also the BBC uses a cue dot which appears on the top left of the screen 30 seconds before the next item or programme.

I'm remember rushing home from school every Monday to catch He-man. I'd go mental if I was late and ended up missing any of it. Funny how important shows were back then compared to now where everything in on tap. I also remember Chocky but I think I wasn't old enough to really make much sense of it at the time.

I got a portable TV for Christmas '84 so I remember the adverts from the second half of the 80's in particular very well.
Behind The Bike Sheds featured Lee Sparke who played Gordon 'Jonah' Jones in Grange Hill in 1982/3.
I remember 'Le Crunch Bunch' ad very well as I played the barman in the white jacket..'Frenchy'. I'm 38 now....thanks for putting it on mate.

It's a network cue - it told the different ITV regions when a commercial break was due to start. Each ITV company (TVS, HTV, Thames etc) sold its own commercial air time so they each ran different ads. I think this was automated by 1985. Not sure though.
